Toronto Taxicab Drivers Hold Protest Against Premier McGuinty’s Unfair Support of the Airport Limousine

RELEASE, 11 Sept 2009 - Toronto Taxicab drivers are calling on the Ontario government to reverse its decision to remove restrictions on Airport Limousines from picking up fares within the limits of City of Toronto. This unilateral and arbitrary regulation change creates an unfair disadvantage in the Taxi Industry against the Toronto Taxicab drivers.

The iTAXIWORKERS Association is organizing a demonstration by the Toronto Taxicab drivers to reject this action and demand for equal opportunity under the law. “If the Airport Limousine can pick up fares in Toronto, Toronto Taxicab drivers should be allowed to pick up fares from the Airport without harassment,” says Sajid Mogul, the President of the iTAXIWORKERS, Toronto Chapter.

The Toronto Taxicab drivers are urging the public and the elected Toronto City councillors as well as the Metro MPP’s to reject Premier McGuinty’s unilateral regulation change and support a fair and equitable Taxi Industry regulation.
